New telehealth advisory group, KanTel

Driven by community interest, the Heartland Telehealth Resource Center (HTRC) and diverse Kansas stakeholders recently established KanTel, a telehealth advisory group.

The group’s goal is to advance telehealth throughout the state by networking and addressing critical issues. KanTel has prioritized areas around telemedicine reimbursement and insurance parity. The diverse group includes consumers, advocates, clinic and hospital administrators, telehealth providers, legislators, agency and organization leaders, networking specialists, researchers, and others, bringing perspective of both those new and established in telehealth.

At the last meeting on October 12, the group brainstormed about issues related to telesupervision, led by Shawna Wright, Ph.D., Chanute, Kansas. and tele-dietetics, led by Kirsten Angell, RD, Ellis, Kansas.

For more information, please contact HTRC project director, Janine Gracy, MSE, CHES, CPP,  at (877) 643-HTRC. The HTRC is a federal program through KU Center for Telemedicine & Telehealth.
