Database management for rural medical education

The University of Kansas Office of Rural Education is inching closer to completing a database system for preceptors and students. This new system will aid students in finding the perfect preceptor.

This month, staff are gathering information to fill the physician side of the system. The doctors are able to not only share basic practice information and specialty, but also availability of their schedule, if housing is provided and even if students are able to bring pets! When students log on, they will have options to search by area of the state, city, doctor’s name or type of practice. The Office of Rural Medical Education hopes is to have the preceptor database management system completed in the next few months so students can choose their sites this year.
