  • October 14, Topeka, Kansas, 8 a.m. - 3 p.m., Pink Platoon: A Bootcamp for Breast Cancer Survivors
    Thanks to a grant from Komen Kansas, Midwest Cancer Alliance will be presenting Pink Platoon workshops for breast cancer survivors. The events are free but registration is required. For more information contact Dr. Susan Krigel at 913-945-7534.
  • October 14, Kingman, Kansas, 9 a.m.- 12:00 p.m., Free Cancer Screening
    The Kansas Masonic Foundation and local Masonic Lodges are partnering with health professionals from University of Kansas Medical Center and staff from the Midwest Cancer Alliance to provide cancer screening services that include:
    • Free skin cancer screenings
    • Free prostate cancer screenings
    • Free screen-to-save colon cancer screenings
    • Free facial sun damage and body mass index assessments
    • Free bone density testt
    • Mammography services, in some locations (a fee may apply)
  • October 19, 12-1 p.m. Kitchen Therapy
    Cancer patients and others with chronic disease are invited to join Midwest Cancer Alliance for free cooking demonstrations & tips on ways to choose the healthiest ingredients, make food more appealing and spark appetites.
    On the 3rd Thursday of each month, from winter through fall, dietitians will prepare recipes, share nutrition advice and answer questions to help patients cook-up comfort at home. Classes take place in the Kansas City area and are presented ,via ITV, in Topeka and Garden City, Kan. To register in the KC area call 913-945-7624. In Topeka call Stormont-Vail at 785-270-4978.
